Donation Rules

 

Thank you for your interest in donating your books to Bookleggers! We are proud to offer the service of rehoming your or your loved ones' or your institution's books. 

 

With your help and cooperation with the following guidelines, we can cultivate a more equitable community of readers in Miami-Dade:

 

• You MUST book an appointment online. This helps us prepare for your donation (plan staffing, shelf space, etc.). Please note your donation will likely be turned away if you do not book an appointment in advance.

• We accept books in GOOD condition. Think GIFTABLE! ​Please be considerate and take care to remove excess dirt/dust/pet hair from your books prior to donation.

• We do not buy books. We only accept donations. 

• Please donate your books in a box or a bag that you are willing to part with. We cannot guarantee the return of the box or the bag. Trash bags highly discouraged.

• If you cannot lift the box, neither can we.

• We can and do provide a tax receipt for donations, which lists the number of books. We will not evaluate anyone’s collection for prices or value.

• Lastly, please remember we are people. Try to be respectful!

 

Books We Can Always Use:
 

• Board books (baby books)

• Children’s

• Books in Spanish (children’s and adult)

• Adult fiction

• Philosophy

• Graphic Novels

• Comic Books

• Music Books

• Film Books

• Poetry

 

Books We CANNOT Accept:

 

• Textbooks

• Manuals

• Testing Books

• Medical Books

• Law Books

• Remainders (one box of all the same book)

• Books that are moldy or have insect/rodent damage

• CDs/VHS/DVDs/Cassettes/8tracks/Vinyl records 

• Please note we have the right to refuse any donation for any reason whatsoever

 

Pickups

 

• Due to gas and other resources, pickups must come with a cash donation of $20 per box with a $100 minimum. 

• Pickups will only be made within Miami-Dade.
